Originally receiving a degree in medical engineering, Dr. Michael Carlton dreamed of designing a machine that would help doctors deal with patients and their pain. But when he had to take some “pre-med” courses for medical engineering and went on “rounds”, he realized he wanted to HELP patients even more. He had been homeless at one time, and saw how indigent people were treated. He wanted to make a difference.

His time spent with the poor was the trigger to his entry into Addiction Medicine. Addiction is the Number 1 disease with those considered “on the wrong side of society”. He is now the most recognized doctor nationally and internationally on the subject and treatment of Addiction Medicine.

He is also known as a “cutting edge Dr.”. He travels to other countries to learn medical methods and has stepped over the line of societal “norms” sooften, that he decided to draw his own. He has helped many by doing so.He has been named a TOP DOC (and the only one in Ahwatukee) for the past 3 Years.
